A web server called Angie has been developed in Russia, which will allow Russian companies to replace foreign solutions and ensure the security of their infrastructure. The new product will be named Angie and will be distributed under an open license.

Angie is a fork of Nginx, one of the most popular web servers in the world. The development is being carried out by the company "Web-Server", which brings together former leading engineers of Nginx and a support team.

Angie will provide the international developer community and Russian companies access to a version of the web server with extended functionality compared to Nginx. Angie handles scaling and fault tolerance tasks better, thanks to its dynamic reconfiguration capabilities. With enhanced metric tracking capabilities, Angie significantly simplifies the integration of the web server into the overall monitoring of the company's infrastructure.

Angie will have an application programming interface (API) for dynamic configuration of web server parameters, which will add convenience when developing modern web applications using software for managing application clusters, such as Kubernetes.

"Investments in the project in the first phase amounted to about $1 million. Primarily, we are targeting the Russian market, but foreign companies are already showing interest in our development," says the CEO of "Web-Server", Zaur Abasmirzoev.

"The company will also provide technical support to both Angie users and Nginx users, and will develop tools for managing and monitoring critical IT infrastructure," notes the product director of Angie, Ivan Poluyanov.

The core team of Angie consists of top-class engineers and technical support specialists. The specialists at "Web-Server" have unique experience in developing NGINX, its commercial versions, and have provided uninterrupted 24/7 technical support for Fortune 500 companies. Many have received international awards.

The development of Angie is taking place in Russia, and the source code will be placed in a trusted repository of the Ministry of Digital Development for the necessary certifications.
