The company "Web Server" has announced the release of a new version of the Russian open-source web server Angie 1.3.0. The updated version includes several significant changes that simplify server configuration and monitoring.

One of the main additions is support for multiple URI request matching patterns for the same configuration context (the "location" directive). This reduces the amount of configuration needed and decreases the likelihood of user errors. Additionally, the new version of Angie introduces Prometheus-formatted statistics, which facilitate the construction of monitoring systems in modern infrastructure.

Among other notable innovations:

  • Versioning of configurations for individual web server processes, making monitoring, troubleshooting, and problem resolution easier;

  • The ability to retrieve the current server configuration via the HTTP API.

Finally, two innovations that were previously added to Angie 1.1.0 only for HTTP are now also available in the context of data streaming (the "stream" module):

  • Statistics for proxied servers, which expands the coverage of Angie’s functionality with metrics;

  • Dynamic adaptation of the list of proxied server addresses to changes in DNS, taking SRV records into account, allowing for faster scaling of services and changing settings without resource overuse.
