Angie and Angie PRO updated to version 1.9.0#

11.04.2025

Version 1.9.0 of the Angie web server and its commercial version Angie PRO has been released. Key changes include saving the cache index to disk for faster restarts, support for TLS 1.3 Early Data in the stream module, and new features for the HTTP load balancer in Angie PRO.

We have updated the open-source Angie web server and its commercial version Angie PRO to version 1.9.0.

This release is the first of four major releases planned for 2025.

The main change in version 1.9.0 is the ability to save the cache index from shared memory to disk and instantly load it on restart without involving the cache loader. This innovation accelerates server recovery when handling large cache volumes.

In Angie PRO, the backup_switch (PRO) directive has been added for the HTTP load balancer. It allows flexible configuration of the behavior when switching to a backup group of servers and controlling the duration of staying on it.

Other important changes include:

  • Support for TLS 1.3 Early Data (0-RTT) in the stream module;

  • A new busy status for servers that have exhausted their connection limits;

  • Improvements in the ACME module, simplifying certificate renewal management;

  • Caching of "dynamic" TLS certificates set via variables (directives like ssl_certificate_cache and others).

We recommend updating to version 1.9.0 to take advantage of the new features.

In the next few days, we will publish a special article detailing what has changed in version 1.9.0, and partially reveal the plans for version 1.10.0.

Wishing you a great weekend!
